  We Are

  Threestone Studios is a small web development company founded in 2008 by Rob Dooh. Initially offering a wide spectrum of design and development services, including printed media, flash programming, audio/video, and other multimedia work, the company is now focused entirely on websites and web-based applications.

  The 'We' is predominantly singular, as Rob does most of the core design and development on most web projects. Rob has a background in science, and 14 years experience working with website design and development. Over the course of the past few years, Rob has periodically been joined at Threestone Studios by additional design and programming professionals who have contributed to the companies success.

  We Do

  Providing web design and development services that are of value to our clients is our primary goal. To do this, making sure that we understand your needs and objectives upfront is our first order of business.

  What we offer is more than a decade of experience with the world of web development, along with it's ever-changing technologies and new applications. We strive to offer you the best perspective and advice that we can, and find the most compelling options. We strive to design and deliver website solutions that meet your goals.

  Our current focus is on developing sites in three categories:

  1. Shop Fronts - sites for information or sales
  2. Business Data - public or private sites for managing, analyzing, and reporting on business data
  3. Special Projects - Apps and API services, and new web technologies

  However, it must be said that a large number of todays sites fall into one of these categories, so if you have a project in mind, then chances are that we'll be a great fit! Get in contact with us if you'd like to discuss your web-based idea,

  When

  We Can Do It

  Being a small company that values the quality of both our product and our level of service, we're committed to ensuring that we can devote ample time to each of our projects. As such, we avoid overloading our plate. Even if you are in your early planning stages and have not yet chosen your web development partner, we advise making contact as early as possible to discuss the scope and timeline of your project so that we can properly assess your needs, make sure that we will have the necessary resources ready, and for you see whether we'd be a good fit. If you have decided to partner with us, and your project start time is still on the horizon, we welcome reservations. In the interest of transparency, we will provide a rough guideline of upcoming availability on this site (below), as well as periodic updates on our Twitter feed (@3stoneStudios).

  Where

  We Are

  Threestone Studios is based in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, roughly mid-way between Toronto and the Canadian technology hub of Kitchener-Waterloo. Threestone Studios has provided services to clients from Toronto to Vancouver to New York City, and points in between. When not in meetings or locked in the Code Cave, Rob, the founder and lead developer, can routinely be found among other caffeinated patrons of various coffee shops and cafes in Guelph, cranking out new code and designs.

  Why

  We Do It

  Contrary to at least one local opinion, it's not because Rob is a robot, nor does he work with robots. Though that would be fun too. In truth, it's because the web is an extremely exciting place for creators and builders of all kinds. And building great-looking, well-functioning websites that make people happy, productive, and profitable, is something that Threestone Studios is passionate about.   How

  We Get It Done

  For communications with our clients, we're flexible. For clients from Toronto to Kitchener-Waterloo, we're happy to meet in person at their place of business as often as is required, but we will also happily use phone, email, skype, and various screen-sharing and file-sharing services to make sure that projects move along smoothly. We advocate the use of storyboarding and rough sketches (from whiteboards to napkins) or any medium that helps our clients get their ideas out for discussion as easily and clearly as possible.

  For those with an eye for webby acronyms, some of the latest web standards and technologies that we develop with include CSS3, SASS, HTML5, JavaScript, PHP, Ruby, MySQL, MongoDB, and Git for source version control. Sorry, no more Flash or Silverlight development :)

  The hardware for our digital work is predominantly Mac, but of course we still run Windows machines for testing websites on multiple platforms and browsers.

  And for the software-phile, some of our favourite design and development programs include Photoshop CS5, OmniGraffle, Coda2, Sublime Text 2, GitBox, Navicat, Transmit 4, Yeoman, and of course, CodeKit.
